About 9.30pm on 21 January, 1933, Constable Hadden was on points duty, when he saw a stolen car coming
towards him. He stopped the traffic and spoke to the driver, asking him for his vehicle documents. The vehicle
was then driven off at speed, with the constable on the running board trying to stop him.
The vehicle swerved into other vehicles and the constable was struck several times. The driver
then crushed the officer by driving alongside a tramcar, knocking him off the running board.
Constable Hadden was badly injured and was discharged from the Glasgow Police as a result of his injuries in
(London Gazette 1.1.1935)
